To be clear:TheQuarterMaster recommends that if your life is under immanent illegal and lethal threat that you respond with the appropriate tool/weapon. However in the ideal world this would not be necessary as one would have relatively quick access to legal firearms. In South Africa this is not the case and folks must make do with what they can.
The HDR 50 has an imposing appearance and can be used to intimidate any would be attackers. The velocity of the 50cal ball is much higher than from a normal paintball or pepper gun launcher and will cause pain and bruising
Used properly the HDR can create distance between you and your attacker. Inflicting pain as well as possibly intimidating them. So it can be very useful in warding off an attack. The pepper balls will also contaminate the area that they hit further neutralizing the attacker(s)
